FAQ about our earrings
Every design is hand sculpted in house and is original. Our pieces are influenced by nature, astrology as well as impressionist artists like Monet and Van Gogh as well as Renaissance masters like Boticelli. These influences will either be direct or in the use of colour. For example, our Astra ring in Amethyst and Pink Tourmaline was influenced by Monet's Water Lillies. Our Alpine flower ring was influenced by the Edelweiss flower that grows in the high mountain regions in Europe.
Our earrings in particular follow an asymmetric style, what this means is, the earring on the left and right differ slightly but form a unique and eye catching uniform look that stands out when viewed from any angle. This style of earring is not common which means when you wear Venus Trine Mars earrings, your piece will a special statement piece.

We're a small Australian artisanal brand that crafts our pieces using traditional and small batch jewellery making techniques. We believe in the beauty of truly handmade and none of our pieces are mass produced in a factory.
We use the ancient art of lost wax jewellery making, which dates back to over 3000 years.
The artist sculpting the original piece will use jewellers wax, bringing the drawn design into a perfect wax model replica by hand. There's no 3D printed models or CAD (computer aided designs) here, only slow and detailed craft, with purpose and soul.
It's an art form in itself and is a premium process that produces incredibly detailed pieces - every curve, every line that's been sculpted by the artist comes to life once it's been fired in the age old jewellery kiln.

Small batch jewellery means jewellery that's made by independent jewellery artists, using traditional old world jewellery making techniques, with only a handful of pieces are ever made at a time as their process is truly handmade.
There was a time when all jewellery was small batch jewellery. With the popularity of fast fashion jewellery more and more brands turned to mass produced manufacturing.
What this meant is, instead of pieces being slowly made with care and using the highest levels of craftsmanship, mass market jewellery, which is the jewellery you'll see in most shops and popular online jewellery brands skipped steps to reduce labour time and cut down material costs.
A flow on effect of this is replicated jewellery that's often thin, hollowed out and in a formulaic manner that is repeated across many jewellery brands. That's why so much of modern jewellery looks the same.

Our pieces were designed so that they suit every type of woman - if you're a woman who prefers the minimal look you can go with a neutral outfit and choose to use just the earrings as the highlight statement. Perhaps pairing it with one or two rings to bring the look together.

Our entire earring range and all of our jewellery is hypoallergenic and nickel free. The earring posts and butterfly backs are nickel free and sterling silver.
You can wear your new earrings confidently and knowing that they won't irritate your ears.
Our earrings are made in both silver or gold plated - so depending on whether you love cool or warm toned jewellery you have the option between the two.
The silver earrings are made with base of sterling silver and the 18k gold plated option contains a base of either brass or sterling silver. Our gold plated pieces have 1 micron of pure gold applied over the base metal, which is 100 times thicker than regular flash plated mass produced jewellery.
Our entire range is nickel free.
Truthfully, the choice between investing in solid gold or gold plated jewellery comes down to price. The metal component alone for high carat gold like 18-20 k will be thousands alone, with 1 gram of gold costing almost $300 in Australia in 2026.
Once you factor in gemstones, design time, labour and so on, solid gold artisanal jewellery goes well into the thousands.
At Venus Trine Mars, our founder a passionate artist and sees jewellery as a form of art. We want to make hand sculpted gemstone jewellery accessible to all women so we decided that instead of using solid gold to use solid silver and gold plated to keep the base metal costs down.
We see our pieces as a middle ground, we certainly do not make fast fashion flash plated jewellery and we don't use solid gold either. We're a middle ground where you don't need to just dream of owning original hand sculpted artisan jewellery that stands out from mass market jewellery.

Our earring posts are individually hand-soldered for maximum strength and longevity. This is a superior standard of craftsmanship rarely found in commercial jewellery today.

You can keep your earrings in the jewellery drawer box that they will come in. We invest in high quality jewellery boxes that have special tarnish resistant properties.
If you prefer to keep your jewellery on a tray, just make sure that they're away from moisture (not in a bathroom) and in a dry, cool place that doesn't receive any direct sunlight.
